Summary: To deliver a programme of events and activities to local children (11-16 year olds), culminating in them qualifying with an environmental award.

Funder(s): The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust

Date: August 2022

Delivery Partner: My Outdoor Classroom

Details: Having worked with My Outdoor Classroom to deliver various forest school events on the park, they approached us with the idea of applying to this fund to deliver an environmental award on Rimrose Valley. We used our website and social media channels to secure sign-ups to the programme, with the focus on children and young people from the surrounding communities. To qualify at the end of the course, participants had to commit to 24 hours of exploring, conserving, sharing and discovering a wild space – Rimrose Valley. Young people spent 16 hours on the park taking part in a range of activities and a further 8 hours of self-led work. Incredibly, every single participant ‘graduated’ at an event held in a local community church in Waterloo.
