Rimrose Valley Nature Activity Update

We’re mindful that Rimrose Valley exists for the benefit the local biodiversity as well as the people who use our beautiful Park.  We thought it would be useful to publish a quick update of some of our current activities to keep a watchful eye over the natural residents of Rimrose Valley:

  • Bat surveys will be carried out by one of our biodiversity experts over the next two weeks to give us a quick snapshot of how bats are using Rimrose Valley.

  • We’ll be meeting with Sefton Council’s Coast & Countryside team to discuss the areas that we should prioritise in terms of coppicing. We will also map out any areas of Japanese Knotweed, an invasive perennial plant species, with a view to controlling its spread in Rimrose Valley. This will be a rolling program of activity.

  • Migrant birds are still moving through the valley in good numbers, with Goldcrest and Blackcap identified in good volumes over the past couple of weeks, a Spotted Flycatcher has also been identified and tracked. We’re also regularly seeing Buzzards circling on the thermals, a Kingfisher, frequent Sparrowhawks and a Raven high overhead.
