Tree Thinning – Derwent Road Entrance

As previously explained, Green Sefton are currently revisiting the maintenance plan for Rimrose Valley and part of this will include ways of regenerating each of the 3 main habitats found within the park – grassland, wetland and woodland – as this hasn’t happened for many years.

With this in mind, we’ve received notification from Green Sefton that they are training 4 land management operatives in chainsaw handling and they will be undertaking the practical element of this course within wooded areas near the Derwent Road entrance on the following dates:

  • Dates for Coursework: 10th Feb to 14th Feb
  • Dates for Assessment: 6th March & 7th March

Their course focusses on felling small trees and cross-cutting. Nothing mature will be removed, the work will be regenerative thinning out and it won’t last all day.

Signage will be in place when they are working on site.

Good woodland management is essential to maintaining healthy trees and improving the biodiversity of these habitats.

Thank you.
