Summary: To regenerate a neglected recreational section of Rimrose Valley and create a habitat for pollinators through the creation of a wildflower meadow, increasing awareness of the park in the process.

Funder(s): Crowdfunding, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Idverde UK & Sefton Council via Spacehive platform

Date: May 2018 – to date

Delivery Partner: Scouse Flowerhouse

Details: Having been introduced to Scouse Flowerhouse at the North West Parks Forum event, we knew we wanted to work together. We identified a suitable location within Rimrose Valley – the centre of an overgrown running track – and set about raising the necessary funds to make it happen. We had a huge response from members of the public, followed by corporate funders. The land was prepared in record time, a community sowing event was held in late spring, and the meadow bloomed that summer. We have continued to work with Scouse Flowerhouse, harvesting the seed for other projects, holding annual sowing events and sell seeds to raise funds for the charity. 2025 will be the meadows 7th year.  We picked up a Bees’ Needs Award from DEFRA for this piece of work.
