Purpose: This project brought communities surrounding Rimrose Valley together for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic in support of our Save Rimrose Valley campaign.
Funder(s): LUSH and public donations
Date: August 2021
Details: Rimrose Valley became a lifeline for thousands of people during lockdown. After 18 months of restrictions and a battle to keep our campaign in the public’s conscious, we wondered: would anyone turn up to our biggest protest to date? We needn’t have worried. The sun shone, old and young came together, using banners and placards to deliver their messages. Politicians, health campaigners and environmentalists addressed the crowds. Then we took to the streets. We marched to the Port of Liverpool to highlight owner Peel Ports’ major stake in the road plans and were cheered along the way.
We delivered a letter demanding that Peel Ports withdraw its support for the road and called on them to work with communities to find a sustainable solution to the port’s congestion and pollution. This was a day that will live long in the memory.
